Quebec has today announced drastic changes to its Selection Criteria for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. For a single applicant, the qualifying points will now be 50 (earlier 49) and for married applicants 59 (earlier 57). There has also been a considerable general drop in Area of Training (AOT) points for several specific fields of education and training. The maximum points available under AOT will be 12 (earlier 16), and most training which previously fetched 12 points, for example, nurses, will now get only 9 (earlier 12). These changes make it more difficult to achieve the points required to qualify.

The above changes may also affect your application, as Quebec has announced that these changes will also apply to applications submitted before 08 March 2017 where the preliminary examination has not yet started, including those submitted under Mon Projet Quebec.

Quebec Skilled Worker Program Overview

Quebec is Canada's largest province with a multicultural population. Vast forests, countless waterways, and many hills form the demography of Quebec. The official language is French, although English is widely spoken. Quebec is often referred to as the Europe of North America.

Quebec has its own immigration programs and pathways for skilled workers who want to live and work in the province. The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) is a primary pathway. Immigration policies and program details may change over time, so staying up-to-date is crucial.
